University Avenue Improvements

This project consisted of design and construction phase services for the traffic signal rehabilitation and pedestrian safety improvements on University Avenue from Randolph Street to Chestnut Street in the city of Champaign, Illinois. The project included roadway lighting improvements along the Avenue between State Street and Chestnut Street and an on-street bicycle lane on Walnut Street from Logan Street to Washington Street.
The improvements included the following:
- curb extensions and radius improvements
- sidewalk and curb ramp removal and replacement
- drainage and streetscape improvements
- traffic signal removal and replacement
- water main adjustments
- milling, resurfacing and pavement marking.
The scope of services included field surveys; geotechnical investigations and percolation testing; roadway and drainage design; traffic signal and roadway lighting design; streetscape design; utility coordination; environmental studies; public information meetings; preparation of final plans, specifications and estimates, bidding assistance and construction observation.
