The recently opened Kenosha Emerging Leaders Academy (KELA) in Kenosha, WI, is a collaborative initiative aimed at providing youth with enhanced educational and career opportunities. The academy is housed in the former Brown Bank building and features state-of-the-art facilities, including computers, digital cameras, music studios, virtual reality systems, robotics, and 3D printers. These resources aim to equip students with advanced skills in STEM fields and beyond.
As a consulting engineer, Clark Dietz was responsible for overall project management and the provision of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection services. Our work included installing new rooftop units and air handling units, adding new restrooms, upgrading the existing ones, and improving the building’s HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and technology infrastructure. We also ensured the facility is ADA compliant and implemented new fire alarm and sprinkler systems throughout the building.
KELA partners with several local organizations, including Carthage College, the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, Herzing University, Gateway Technical College, and companies like Jockey International and Best Buy. The facility also houses the Kenosha YMCA’s Teen Tech Center, providing teens with access to the latest technology and mentorship opportunities. The Mahone Fund’s Career Exploration Organization (CEO) mentoring program and other initiatives will support students in pursuing their academic and career goals.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to revitalize Kenosha’s Uptown neighborhood and foster economic development through innovation and education. Clark Dietz is proud to support the Kenosha community!
